sarophorus L. A. S. Johnson. Four species are regarded as introduced, /.
effusus L., /.
conglomeratus L., /.
inflexus L. and /.
subsecundus Wakefield. A key for the identification of all species is given. The species are divided into two groups on the basis of seedling morphology and stem anatomy; this grouping is related to other diagnostic characters in a table. All 10 indigenous species are self-fertile, and there was no inbreeding depression in four species tested. Data obtained from three artificial hybrids are also presented.
