LEAF CHARACTERS AND A NEW SPECIES IN OREOBOLUS (CYPERACEAE)

Elizabeth Edgar

Botany Division, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Christchurch

Abstract The plant known in New Zealand as Oreobolus pumilio differs from the Australian O. pumilio R. Br. and from other species of Oreobolus in the distribution of the stomata and in the number of visible veins in the leaf, as well as in some floral characters. A new species, Oreobolus impar, is therefore described. A key to the three New Zealand species of Oreobolus R. Br. is given.
