Ckn. et Laing, and L. celala sp. nov.; belonging to the almost cosmopolitan campestris-multiflora complex ate L. ruja sp. nov. (2 vars), L. banksiana E. Mey. (5 vars), L. crinita Hook. f. (2 vars), L. picta A. Rich. (3 vars) - all formerly treated as varieties of L. catnpestris (L.) DC. - L. leptophylla Buch. et Petrie, and three cushion species, L. colensoi Hook, f., L. pumila Hook, f., and L. crenulata Buch. A key is given for the identification of the indigenous species and the three most common introduced species, L. multi-flora (Retz.) Lej., L. congesta (Thuill.) Lej. and L. campestris (L.) DC. s.s. Hybridism between the species and varieties is discussed.
