Notes and Comments: MONOGRAPHS ON NEW ZEALAND FUNGI

Abstract These books, published posthumously, must be seen not only as the result of 40 years of intensive study of these relatively little known groups of fungi, but also, in many cases, as the reprinting of material originally published as much as 20 years before. Therefore, we must guard against allowing our appreciation of the advantage of having this valuable work gathered together between the covers of two books to fade before the tendency to criticise it from the point of view of what might be expected from studies made in 1963 and 1965.
