Induction of root nodules on Coriaria myrtifolia L. growing in water culture

Abstract Contrary to the experience of other workers, the authors succeeded in inducing nodula-tion of Coriaria growing in water culture by applying a crushed-nodule inoculum. A possible reason for this success is that the Coriaria endophyte is intolerant of an acid rooting medium, which the authors avoided. The use of a habitat soil extract in the culture solution enhanced nodulation.
