Obituary: Norman Lascelles Elder, M.A. (Cantab.), F.R.G.S. 1896-1974

Abstract Norman Lascelles Elder was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on 6 April 1896. As a boy he lived at Waimahoe Station, Waikanae, where his father had cleared the farm from bush. Thus from an early age the bush was his playground and he was familiar with the Tararua foothills bordering the farm, climbing to the top of Kapakapanui at the head of the Waikanae River at the age of 16.
