Resin canals in the bark of Phyllocladus species indigenous to New Zealand

Abstract The occurrence of resin canals in the bark of the three species of
Phyllocladus indigenous to New Zealand is recorded. The anatomy of the resin canals is described and their distribution in an adult tree of
P. alpinus presented. The origin and function of the resin canals and sclereids are briefly discussed.
