Haustorial synergids in Cortaderia (Gramineae)

Abstract Extensions of the synergids as haustoria into and beyond the micropyle have been reported only in Ursinia, Calendula, and Cotula (Compositae) and in Quinchamalium (Santalaceae) (Maheshwari 1950, Johri 1963, Davis 1966). Their presence in the grass genus Cortaderia is reported here.
