Abstract Sporulation of Plasmopara viticola (Berk, et Curt, ex de Bary) Berl. et de Toni on infected grapevine leaves proceeded in a moist atmosphere in darkness but not in light. Sporulation was inhibited by irradiation either with near-u.v. light of 310-400 nm, or with green of 500-560 nm, at intensities of more than 3, or3.5 Wm~2 respectively.
