Abstract Two new species of Apiospora Saccardo, A. setosa Samuels, McKenzie et D. E. Buchanan and A. tintinnabula Samuels, McKenzie et D. E. Buchanan, and their Arthrinium Kunze ex Fries anamorphs are described. The anamorph of Apiospora setosa is Cordelia johnstonii M. B. Ellis and that of A. tintinnabula is Scyphospora phyllostachydis Kantschaveli, but Cordelia Spegazzini, Scyphospora Kantschaveli, and Pteroconium Saccardo ex Grove can be considered to be synonymous with Arthrinium. Taxonomy of Apiospora and Arthrinium is discussed, and a key is provided for the species in New Zealand.

Keywords New Zealand fungi; Ascomycetes; Hyphomycetes; Apiospora setosa; Apiospora tintinnabula; Arthrinium; Scyphospora phyllostachydis; taxonomy; descriptions; illustrations; electron microscopy
