Ascomycetes of New Zealand 4.Valetoniella crucipila Hohnel and Trichosphaerella tuberculata sp. nov., two members of the Trichosphaeriaceae with pseudoamyloid ascospores

Abstract Valetoniella crucipila is redescribed from New Zealand collections. Trichosphaerella tuberculata sp. nov. is proposed. Ascospores of both species turn red when treated with iodine. Sterile, interascal filaments are lacking from the mature locule of both Valetoniella and Trichosphaerella. Taxonomy of Valetoniella and Trichosphaerella is discussed.
