AbstractTwo new species from Stewart Island, New Zealand, Ranunculus stylosus and R. viridis, are described and illustrated. Both are alpine species from the southern part of the island. In addition R. depressus var. stewartiae is removed from the flora of Stewart Island; the locality given for the only Stewart Island specimen (the type specimen) is believed to be an error. A key to the 10 native and 2 naturalised buttercups on the island is included.
