Abstract Ceratocephalus pungens Garnock-Jones sp. nov. is described, illustrated, and comparedwith C. falcatus and C. testiculatus, the other two species of this otherwise Eurasian genus. It is considered prudent at present to regard C. pungens as a New Zealand endemic species, which, however, suggests a most unusual natural distribution for the genus.
