Abstract  Two species of the genus Coccotrema Müll. Arg. (lichenised Ascomycotina) occur in southern South America, Coccotrema cucurbitula (Mont.) Müll.Arg. and Coccotrema porinopsis (Nyl.) Imshaug ex Yoshimura. Based on new results of taxonomic studies, the following species are rejected as C. porinopsis synonyms and transferred to C. cucurbitula synonyms: Pertusaria adveniens Nyl., Pertusaria adventans Nyl., Pertusaria thelioplaca Nyl. A key to the species, details of their morphology, chemistry, geographic distribution, habitat, and taxonomic position are given.
