Abstract The circumscription of
Carmichaelia is
emended to accommodate
Chordospartium,
Corallospartium, and
Notospartium following the recommendations made in a recent phylogenetic
study of the group. Accordingly,
Carmichaelia crassicaule is reinstated
and the following new combinations are made:
Carmichaelia carmichaeliae,
Carmichaelia glabrescens,
Carmichaelia muritai,
Carmichaelia
stevensonii, and
Carmichaelia torulosa. A dichotomous key is
presented to the 23 species of
Carmichaelia that are indigenous to New
Zealand. Natural and garden-originated interspecific hybrids of
Carmichaelia are also listed and briefly described.
Keywords Fabaceae; Galegeae; Carmichaelia;
