Abstract  Indigenous New Zealand members of Festuca, Poeae, are revised. Nine species are recognised, one with four subspecies. Four species are described as new: F. deflexa, F. luciarum, F. madida, and F. ultramafica, and a new name, F. actae, is proposed for plants on Banks Peninsula. Three new subspecies of F. matthewsii are described: ssp. aquilonia, ssp. latifundii, and ssp. pisamontis.
