Identity of Lygus buchanani Poppius (Heteroptera: Miridae: Mirini): a deletion from the New Zealand fauna

Abstract  Lygus buchanani Poppius, 1914 and Lygus udonis Matsumura, 1917 are proposed as junior subjective synonyms of Orthops scutellatus Uhler, 1877, which is diagnosed and redescribed. Lygus buchanani was originally described from New Zealand in error, and is to be deleted from the New Zealand fauna.
