East Asia Pacific Summer Institutes Program (EAPSI)

The EAPSI program provides U.S. graduate students in science and engineering first-hand research experience to conduct research in New Zealand laboratories and to initiate personal relationships with their New Zealand counterparts. The program also introduces the students to New Zealand science policy infrastructure and provides an orientation to New Zealand culture.

The program is funded by the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Participants in the program represent a wide variety of research areas, and will be hosted by various institutions including universities, crown research institutes, museums, and other research institutions across the New Zealand.

• Research institutions - As a prospective U.S. applicant to the program, you will need to identify a potential host institution and researcher in New Zealand in your application. The host institutions are expected to provide the students with office accommodation, access to laboratory, library and computing facilities, access to major equipment and special apparatus, as well as technical assistance and the time and expertise of the host researcher.
