Manager, Research Funding

The Royal Society of New Zealand is a well established independent national academy of sciences, comprising a federation of some 60 scientific and technological societies, as well as individual members.

Due to an internal reorganisation a vacancy has arisen for the Manager, Research Funding.  The Research Funding team administers the prestigious government research fund, the Marsden Fund. The Marsden Fund supports excellent fundamental research in New Zealand and allocates funding in excess of $40 million annually.  This is a senior permanent position based in our Wellington office reporting to the General Manager, Business Development.

If you have a PhD with a track record of delivering in complex environments and have proven skills in the following, please contact us:

  • A demonstrated drive for success;
  • The ability to inspire others and manage effectively;
  • A standing in the scientific community and a research record.
  • An excellent understanding of the need for fundamental research in New Zealand
  • Strong relationship management skills to manage a diverse range of stakeholder relationships in government and in the research community including: the universities and Crown Research Institutes
  • Experience in the practice of granting and applying for research monies.
