Alpha 126 - Southern TraverseHeadline
Written by Jim Cotter

We have all heard the saying ‘use it or lose it’ and there is little
doubt that regular physical activity and general well-being go
hand-in-hand. But can you have too much of a good thing?
Exercise scientists at the University of Otago were curious to know
how we respond when pushed to exercise continuously for several days
100 hours of exercise with minimal sleep. Dr Jim Cotter and his three
team mates therefore ran, cycled, swam, paddled and climbed their way
over the Southern Traverse Adventure Race, while a huge team of local,
national and international researchers examined the effects on their
bodies.
