New Zealand’s role in the
International Space Programme
March 2008 was an exciting time for the international space community
with the launch of Jules Verne, the first Automated Transfer Vehicle
(ATV), which will rendezvous with the International Space Station, and
because New Zealand is strategically located it has a vital role to
play in the success of the mission.
The launch of the Ariane 5 and Jules Verne from the ESA’s spaceport in
Kourou, French Guiana, on 9 March 2008 at 05:03 CET, 01:03 local time
(5.03pm NZ time).
