Response to a marine incursion of Styela clava - click to download PDF(440K): downloads require Adobe Acrobat.

The invasive sea squirt Styela clava had not been reported in New Zealand before its discovery around Auckland and at Lyttelton in 2005.

Incursion response work since then has shown that the pest was present for at least three years prior to its discovery – and that it may start spreading to other parts of New Zealand’s coastal marine environment on fouled hulls once the biomass of existing populations builds up.
