The Humanities Award

A Secondary School Writing Competition open to Year 12 and 13 students.

The Humanities Award is the result of collaboration between the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO, the Royal Society of New Zealand, and Te Whainga Aronui The Council for the Humanities.

The two winning entries will receive a cash prize of $1,500 each.

Entries are still being accepted for 2008.

The topic for 2008 is:

Why does it matter that Aotearoa New Zealand is a democracy?
