1998 Science Fair

The 1998 ECNZ National Science and Technology Fair was held at Te Papa, Wellington from 10 – 13 December.

Exhibitors

There were 26 regional winners who attended the National Fair. There were also 3 other guest exhibitors who represented Taiwan and the United States. The ages of the exhibitors ranged from 11 to 18 years with a large majority of the students falling into the younger age bracket.

National Fair Judging Panel

Judging took place on the 10 December after the exhibitors arrived and set up their exhibits.

Award Ceremony

The Award Ceremony was held at Te Marae, Te Papa on Friday 11 December at 4.30 pm. A cultural group from Viard College performed an excellent selection of waiata before the ceremony began. The ceremony was well attended by invited guests and the general public. The MC was Chris Dykzvel (TV celebrity) accompanied by Barbara Benson. Sponsors were able to present their particular awards to winners. The award ceremony was covered by both TV1 and TV3 and appeared on national news later on that evening. After the conclusion of the ceremony guests were escorted down to the concourse area to meet with the students and view the exhibits. Light refreshments and nibbles were served.
