Brendon Port

Brendon Port is in his second year of Engineering at the University of Auckland. He really enjoyed the first year, and also did well enough to get into the deans list (top 5%). Most of the courses were interesting and he could see how they would be useful in real life problems.

Brendon has decided to specialize in electrical engineering, but am still unsure exactly which type of electronics I want to study further.

In the engineering degree he is required to complete at least 800 hours of practical work experience, so over the summer holidays he tried to find an engineering job and managed to do about 100 hours working for an electronics manufacturing company called Compuspec, where he did assembly line work and product testing. Over the rest of the holidays he did some non-engineering work at a book distribution center.

In addition to his studies at University he has enjoyed being involved in a club called Student Life which is a Christian group at the University.

His future work aspirations are to work in development of cutting edge technologies in the electronics and/or software industries preferably in New Zealand, and to gain IPENZ membership and professional engineering status.
