Publishing Award

Approximately $2,000 is available annually to support the preparation of scientific books and relevant publications.

The Publishing Award will be decided by the Presidents of the Society and Academy Councils or their delegates, supported by the Chief Executive.

The fund will give preference to those who do not normally have access to funds through their place of employment for assisting with the writing and publication of their research or a review of a particular area of scientific endeavour.

Applicants should:

  1. Describe the project for which the funding is being applied for and explain how funding will assist in meeting its objectives (1000 words maximum). Include start and estimated end dates for the project.
  2. Include a budget with details of other funding received or applied for.
  3. Include a brief Curriculum Vitae (1 page) plus a list of any refereed publications for the previous 5 years.

At the conclusion of the project, a brief report (500 words maximum) explaining how the objectives have been met, should be submitted to the CEO of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
