Senior Scientist Award

Up to $10,000 p.a. available to support the research of a senior scientist at a university in New Zealand, and that of their research group

Applications for the Senior Scientist Award should be sent to the CEO of the Royal Society, PO Box 598, Wellington, headed “Charles Fleming Fund Senior Scientist Award”. The closing date for applications is 1 May 2008, and funding will be provided each year as long as it is available.

Decisions as to whether to support a senior scientist will be taken by the RSNZ Council.

The fund will give preference to requests for research expenses over and above those that a university would normally be expected to cover. Examples include expenses to:

• cover a visit to an institution in New Zealand or overseas,
• expenses related to specialist assays or methodologies,
• research assistance to carry out a specific task or
• expenses relating to a visit to the research group of a visitor.
