Centres of Research Excellence FundBackground information on the CoRE Fund and the Third Funding RoundThe Centres of Research Excellence Fund is administered by the Tertiary Education Commission. Information about the Fund and the seven Centres selected in the first and second funding rounds can be found at the Commission's web site www.tec.govt.nz The government has announced a third funding round for Centres of Research Excellence to be held in 2006/07. An additional $10 million of operating funds and a further $20 million for capital purchases is being added to the Fund. The 7 existing Centres will be able to apply for refunding for a further 6 years and applications will be also be invited to establish new Centres. The Tertiary Education Commission have asked the Royal Society of New Zealand to assist with the selection by running the assessment process for the new funding round and to make recommendations for selection to the Commission. A Selection Framework describing the process to be followed for the selection of Centres is available and Expressions of Interest from institutions interested in submitting a proposal have now been called for.
