Centres of Research Excellence Fund

Information about applying for CoRE Funding

The seven existing Centres of Research Excellence and any new research partnerships hosted by a Tertiary Educations Institution can apply for CoRE Funding.  If selected, the funding for existing Centres will follow straight on from their current contracts.  New Centres selected will be funded from 1 July 2007.  In both instances, funding will be available for up to 6 years, subject to a mid-contract review.

The process that will be followed to select the Centres and the criteria to be used are described in a Selection Framework document.

Initially, applicants are asked to submit an Expression of Interest by 3 October 2006 to assist the Royal Society in assembling appropriate Assessment Panels and in finding suitable international referees.

Full proposals will be due on 1 December 2006.  The Society will make recommendations to the Tertiary Education Commission in April 2007 and the successful applicants will be announced in May 2007.

The necessary forms, guidelines and instructions for making applications can be found on the Document Download page.
