Implementation of pilot scheme between COST and New Zealand

To be involved and benefit from this new scheme, New Zealand researchers should follow the following steps:

1)    If no formal contact has been established with a COST Action Management Committee, New Zealand researchers need to seek positive feedback for collaborating with a particular COST Action of interest from the Chair of the Management Committee of this Action.  See the database of COST Actions including contact details.

2)    Together with the Action Chair, New Zealand researchers will launch a formal request for participation as a non-COST country institution, if this has not yet been accomplished.  The Chair is familiar with the appropriate formalities (guidelines)

3)    Upon approval of the request to become a formal member of the Action, the New Zealand researcher and the Chair will decide on which meetings are of the highest mutual interest. The Action Chair will send an invitation to the researcher to participate in the meetings of choice and will submit this invitation with an informal request for support of this mission to Mr Eddie Davis, Fund Manager, Royal Society of New Zealand, P O Box 598, Wellington.  A copy of the request is also to be forwarded to Dr Martin Grabert, Director COST Office, Director COST Office, Avenue Louise 149, 1050 Brussels, Belgium.

4)    Following internal procedures, the New Zealand researcher will receive the confirmation of the grant approval, on a first-come first-serve basis, within approximately one month, provided funds are available.

5)    Successful researchers are will submit two reports: a 30 day report, to be submitted within 30 days of the conclusion of the funded travel and a 12 month report, to be submitted 1 year after the funded travel.  The objective of the reports is to gather information to demonstrate that the project is contributing to the objectives of the ISAT Linkages Fund. Reports are to forwarded to Mr Eddie Davis, Fund Manager, Royal Society of New Zealand, P O Box 598, Wellington; and to Dr Martin Grabert, Director COST Office, Director COST Office, Avenue Louise 149, 1050 Brussels, Belgium.

The same procedures apply to European researchers with the COST Office being the first point of contact.
