Mappin Fund

The trust was established in 1942 by the gift of Sir Frank Mappin, Bt, for the encouragement of research on plant diseases. Under amended rules (Council, December 1958), the income of the fund is available for research grants for botanical investigations, as decided by the Research Grants Committee.

Grants shall be available to members of the Society who possess the necessary qualifications for the purpose of undertaking research in the field, or at research institutions in New Zealand, or overseas, on problems connected with the pathology, systematics, physiology, ecology, distribution, or genetics of New Zealand plants and plant pathogens.

When applying to the Fund, please provide a current CV, an outline of your proposed research, including methodology and likely outcomes and a budget.

Funding is provided only when funding is available, and will not exceed $1,000 per application.
