Mission

The mission of the Academy Council is to recognise, support and encourage outstanding achievement and to foster excellence in the fields of science and technology, as well as to assist and support the activities of the Royal Society of New Zealand.

Its objectives are to:

• recognise outstanding scientific and technological achievement;
• encourage and stimulate high standards of science and technology endeavour and achievement;
• reward excellence in the broad areas of science and technology covered by the Academy;
• provide independent and non partisan science and technology advice to the Royal Society of New Zealand Council, government policy makers and the wider community.
