A reported tektite transported from Australasia and found at Gabriel's Gully mining camp, Central Otago, New Zealand

P.N. Warnes*, W. Orchiston+, and P.A. Englert*

A tektite claimed to have been found in Central Otago, New Zealand, in the 1960s is documented. There is little surviving information about it, but we speculate that the specimen was of non-New Zealand (most likely Australian) origin. It was probably removed from its original location by human agency and discarded at a New Zealand mining site during the nineteenth century.
