Abstract A 22-year trial on a previously
undeveloped Tekapo soil, which was overdrilled, given a mean low
fertiliser rate of 25 kg ha–1 year–1
sulphur-fortified superphosphate, and grazed, showed that there was 38%
greater spring pasture yield and 30% greater summer/autumn sheep
grazing capacity from low-rate yearly application than from cumulative
4-yearly application and no difference relating to granular versus fine
fertiliser.
