J. Wardle

Forest and Range Experiment Station, Forest Research Institute, Rangiora.

Abstract The periodic flowering and seeding of Nothofagus solandri is described. An attempt is made to relate variation in seed quantity and quality tp= time of seed shed and to site changes, particularly altitude. Variation in germination, seedling growth, and seedling mortality is also related to shading, soil, and changes in site, particularly altitude.
