A survey of extracts of New Zealand indigenous plants for selected biological activities

Abstract  This paper reports results of a survey of New Zealand indigenous plant extracts for selected biological activities. The survey was carried out between March 1988 and April 1992 and involved the collection of 344 plant species and varieties and their subsequent extraction and screening for cytotoxic, antiviral, and antimicrobial activities. The survey shows biological activity to be widespread in the New Zealand flora, especially cytotoxic and antibacterial activities.
