Abstract Abrotanella rostrata Swenson, a new species of the Asteraceae (Senecioneae), confined to southern South Island, New Zealand, is described. It is closely related to and has hitherto been identified with the Auckland and Campbell Islands endemic species A. spathulata (Hook.f.) Hook.f. A new diagnostic key to the species of Abrotanella in New Zealand is included. Line drawings and a distribution map of the new species are also supplied.
