It is closely related to and has hitherto been identified with the Auckland and Campbell Islands endemic species A. spathulata (Hook.f.) Hook.f. A new diagnostic key to the species of Abrotanella in New Zealand is included. Line drawings and a distribution map of the new species are also supplied.
