On several little known species of Plagiochila in Australasia and the Pacific with description of Plagiochila sublyallii sp. nov. from Papua New Guinea

Abstract  Plagiochila sublyallii sp. nov. from Papua New Guinea is described and illustrated. Eleven species names are newly placed in synonymy. Plagiochila paschalis Steph. is conspecific with P. biciliata Steph. Plagiochila choristophylla Dugas, P. dogniensis Steph., P. levis Steph., P. parisii Steph., P. sanguinea Steph., and P. taetera Steph. are treated as conspecific with P. cristophylla Steph. Plagiochila sinclairii Mitt., Plagiochila litoralis Steph., P. reischeckiana Steph., and P. traversii Steph. are conspecific with P. intertexta Hook.f. & Taylor. Plagiochila biciliata and P. cristophylla are described and illustrated. Lectotypes are designated for P. cristophylla, P. parisii, and P. sanguinea.
