Abstract Convolvulus waitaha is a new combination
at species rank for plants previously treated as C. verecundus subsp.
waitaha. C. waitaha is distinguished from C. verecundus
and C. fractosaxosa by its less hairy and green leaves, smaller flower,
and the green mid-petaline band on the abaxial surface of the petals. C.
verecundus and C. waitaha have chromosomes with 2n = 22,
the count for C. verecundus being new. A key to the species of Convolvulus
endemic to New Zealand is presented along with notes on their distribution,
habitats, associated vegetation, and conservation status. A new naturalised
species, C. graminetinus, is recognised from Central Otago and is
known only from collections made by D. Petrie in the 1890s.
