Abstract  A revision of Porella in Latin America is presented. Thirteen species are recognised: P. brachiata, P. brasiliensis, P. chilensis, P. crispata, P. leiboldii, P. mexicana, P. navicularis, P. reflexa, P. squamulifera, P. subsquarrosa, P. swailsii, P. swartziana, and the new Porella saccata sp. nov. from Peru, recognised by saccate stem paraphyllia. Twenty-three new synonyms are proposed. Photomicrographs of the ventral view of the plants are given for all species in this region. Lectotypes are designated for Porella arborea var. megaloura, P. elongata, P. jelskii, and M. subciliata. A key to all the species in the region is provided.
