Abstract Sphagnum
perichaetiale is
documented
on the South Island, with two morphotypes being
found.
One morphotype occurs above water level and has an orange-brown-red
pigmentation. The second occurs in standing water, is very robust, and
has a
brown-green-grey pigmentation.
