Abstract   In a recent phylogenetic study of DNA sequence data Neopaxia was shown to be nested in Montia, but the necessary new combinations in Montia were not made. The endemic New Zealand species of Neopaxia are formally transferred to Montia with the appropriate new combinations. A new name, M. angustifolia, is required for the species previously known as N. lineariifolia as that epithet is pre-occupied in Montia.
