Abstract  A new species of crab, Lobocarcinus pustulosus (Cancridae: Lobocarcininae), is described from a single near-complete specimen from the Caversham Sandstone (early Altonian Stage, late early Miocene) near Waikouaiti, Otago, South Island, New Zealand. The specimen represents the first report of the genus in the Pacific region and only the second genus of cancrid crab to have been recorded from New Zealand.
