THE GEOPOTENTIAL TOPOGRAPHY OF THE OCEAN SURFACE AROUND NEW ZEALAND

Abstract Present knowledge of the geopotential topography of the ocean surface around New Zealand with respect to the 1,000 decibar isobaric surface is summarised and its relation to the geostrophic circulation of surface waters is discussed.
