PRECOCIOUS MALE QUINNAT SALMON ONCORHYNCHUS TSHAWYTSCHA (WALBAUM) IN NEW ZEALAND (NOTE)

Abstract Samples of yearling parr of quinnat salmon Oncorhynchus tshawytscha (Walbaum) from Lake Heron and the Glenariffe Stream were examined, and precocious ripe males were found. The proportion in the population (29.2%) was higher than is recorded in North America (2.6%).
