R. F. Coombs

Fisheries Research Division, Marine Department, Wellington, New Zealand

Abstract A device for detecting and measuring the locomotor activity of large marine crustaceans in captivity is described. The sensor is essentially a simple galvanic cell, of which the electrolyte is the sea water in which the animal is maintained. A punched-tape recording system used with the device is also described.
