W. F. Ponder

The Australian Museum, P.O. Box A285, Sydney, New South Wales 2000, Australia

Abstract Examination of the type of Penion dilatatus (Quoy & Gaimard, 1833) has shown it to be conspecific with P. adustus (Philippi, 1845), over which it has priority. The next available name for P. dilatatus auct. is Penion cuvierianus (Powell, 1927).
