New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research abstracts

Book review

D.S. Mitchell Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre, P.O Box 921, Albury, NSW 2640 Australia Abstract The New Zealand Limnological Society must be congratulated for initiating this book on New Zealand inland waters to coincide with the XXIII International Limnological Congress in Hamilton, New Zealand, in February 1987. The concept was splendid and it is a pity that the book was not printed in time for the Congress, although it provided a means of synthesising current knowledge of the country's lakes and rivers. It is also a pity that the printing, especially of the black-and-white photographs, is of inconsistent quality.
