Editorial report 2005Papers published in 2005Volume 39 comprises 104 scientific papers, 7 book reviews and 1 Letter to the Editor/Comment, published in six issues (a total of 1354 p.). The volume includes two special issues (No. 2 and 3), published in June 2005, which are the Proceedings of the 7th International Conference and Workshop on Lobster Biology and Management, held in Hobart, Australia, February 2004. Papers submitted in 2005A total of 69 papers were submitted in 2005, of which 58% were focused on marine and 42% on freshwater research. 67% of manuscripts were submitted by New Zealand researchers and 33% by overseas authors. The main New Zealand sources (as a percentage of the total) were: National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Limited (22%), University of Otago (13%), University of Auckland (7%), University of Waikato (7%), Victoria University (6%), and Cawthron Institute (3%). Overseas papers were from Australia (10%), Asia (9%), North America (6%), Europe (5%), and South America (3%). Papers were reviewed by 191 referees in 30 countries: Australasia and the Pacific (30%), North America (36%), Europe (26%), Central and South America (3%), Asia (3%), and Africa and the Middle East (2%). New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research onlineAll issues of the Journal are now available online from the Royal Society of New Zealand website. Back issues to Volume 1 were scanned and converted to PDF files through funding provided by the Terrestrial and Freshwater Biodiversity Information System Programme of the New Zealand Government. Papers published before 2003, all abstracts, and the special issues are freely available on the website. Papers published in 2003 and later are available to subscribers only. Editorial Advisory BoardFollowing the completion of his 3-year term as Chair of the Board in November 2005, Dr Dan McClary was re-elected for a second term.
