Abstract  Hypsibius novaezeelandiae n. sp is described. Hypsibius novaezeelandiae is similar to Hypsibius pedrottii Bertolani et al., 1987, from which it differs by having longer placoids, and a longer and less enlarged basal portion of the claws.
